NSGF Chairman Inuwa Yahaya Mourns Islamic Scholar Dr. Idris Dutsen Tanshi

Bauchi | April 4, 2025 — The Chairman of the Northern States Governors’ Forum (NSGF) and Governor of Gombe State, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, has expressed grief over the passing of prominent Islamic scholar and preacher, Dr. Idris Abdulaziz Dutsen Tanshi.

Dr. Idris, a respected cleric known for his deep knowledge of Islamic teachings and unwavering commitment to moral and spiritual development, died in Bauchi late Thursday after a brief illness.

In a condolence message issued on Friday by the Director-General of Press Affairs, Ismaila Uba Misilli, Governor Inuwa Yahaya described the late scholar as a beacon of Islamic scholarship whose teachings inspired thousands and whose legacy will continue to shape future generations.

“The demise of Sheikh Idris is not only a painful loss to his family and the people of Bauchi State but also to the entire Muslim Ummah and the field of Islamic knowledge,” the statement read.

The NSGF Chairman extended his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family, the government and people of Bauchi State, and the Muslim community at large.

Governor Yahaya prayed for Allah’s mercy upon the late scholar and for him to be granted Aljannat Firdaus, while also asking God to comfort his loved ones and followers in this moment of grief.
