Police Launch Investigation Into Tragic Jungle Justice Incident

The Bauchi State Police Command has commenced a thorough investigation into a tragic case of jungle justice in the Lushi area of Bauchi metropolis, which resulted in the death of one individual and left another severely injured. The incident occurred late on Wednesday night, April 9, 2025.
According to the Command’s Public Relations Officer, CSP Mohammed Ahmed Wakil, the victims were attacked by a mob over allegations of stealing a dog. One of the victims, identified as 38-year-old Dokagk Danladi, suffered multiple machete wounds to the head. He is currently receiving treatment at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH) in Bauchi.
His companion, known only as Peter, was found unresponsive at the scene and was later confirmed dead by medical personnel.
CSP Wakil stated that the Divisional Police Officer and a team of detectives were dispatched to the crime scene to gather evidence and begin a comprehensive investigation aimed at identifying all those involved in the assault.
Reacting to the incident, Commissioner of Police, Sani-Omolori Aliyu, strongly condemned the act, describing it as “barbaric and detrimental to our nation’s legal framework.” He warned that the Command would not tolerate individuals taking the law into their own hands.
“No citizen has the authority to act as
law enforcement by harming suspects. Any individual apprehended for an alleged crime must be handed over to the police or appropriate authorities for proper investigation and prosecution,” the CP said.He urged residents of Bauchi State to remain calm and assured the public that justice will be served as investigations continue.
