In response to the tragic incident that occurred during an Easter procession in Billiri, which claimed lives and left several injured, Gombe State Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya has convened an emergency Security Council meeting to address the crisis and implement preventive measures.

The meeting, held at the Government House in Gombe, brought together top government officials and heads of security agencies to deliberate on the incident and chart a course of action. Addressing the press afterward, the State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Barrister Zubair Mohammed Umar, described the meeting as crucial to taking swift, decisive steps.

To prevent similar occurrences in the future, the Council directed all religious and social organizations intending to hold processions to notify local security agencies in advance. This measure is aimed at enabling proper security arrangements and ensuring the safety of participants and the general public.
