Date: March 24, 2025

Introduction
The Muhammadu Buhari Industrial Park in Dadinkowa, Gombe, is nearing a major milestone with the completion of its electricity substation. This development is crucial in ensuring an independent, stable, and reliable power supply to industries within the park. Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya’s administration has prioritized industrialization, and this power infrastructure is a critical step toward making Gombe a top destination for business and investment.

Current Status of the Power Infrastructure
The electricity substation project has reached an advanced stage, with the successful erection of:

  • 132 KV Bay Extensions
  • Gantry Towers
  • Beams and other key electrical components

The remaining work includes interconnection and earthing, which are expected to be completed soon. Once finalized, the power infrastructure will eliminate the frequent electricity outages that have historically hindered industrial growth in Nigeria.

Impact on Industrial Development
The Muhammadu Buhari Industrial Park was designed to serve as a robust industrial hub for Gombe State and the broader northeast region. With a guaranteed power supply, the park will:

  • Attract local and foreign investors seeking a reliable business environment
  • Boost productivity in key sectors such as manufacturing and agro-processing
  • Create thousands of direct and indirect jobs, stimulating the regional economy
  • Encourage value addition in agriculture, reducing post-harvest losses and supporting local farmers

Gombe State has consistently ranked among the best states in Nigeria for ease of doing business, making it an attractive destination for industries. This power infrastructure strengthens its position as an industrial leader in the region.

Key Sectors Expected to Benefit
The park is expected to host a wide range of industries, with a strong focus on agro-processing due to the state’s rich agricultural resources. Sectors that will benefit include:

  • Rice milling and grain processing
  • Animal feed production
  • Vegetable oil refining
  • Dairy processing
  • Light manufacturing and logistics

Conclusion

The nearing completion of the power infrastructure at Muhammadu Buhari Industrial Park marks a significant milestone in Gombe State’s economic development. By ensuring uninterrupted electricity, the park is set to become a major industrial and economic hub for the northeast. This aligns with Governor Inuwa Yahaya’s vision of positioning Gombe as the best business destination in Nigeria.

With infrastructure in place, the next steps will involve attracting investors, finalizing incentives for businesses, and ensuring the smooth operationalization of industries within the park. This development is expected to transform the region’s economy, creating sustainable opportunities for businesses and residents alike.
