Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, CON, on Sunday joined the Emir of Gombe, Alhaji (Dr.) Abubakar Shehu Abubakar III, CFR, and other Muslim faithful to observe the Eid-el-Fitr prayer, marking the completion of the Holy Month of Ramadan.

The 2 Raka’at prayer was led by the Deputy Chief Imam of Bubayero Central Mosque, Ustaz Aliyu Hammari.

Following the prayer, Governor Yahaya hosted a brief reception at the Government House, where he emphasized the importance of sustaining the virtues of Ramadan—sacrifice, love, and compassion. He noted that embracing these values would help alleviate the suffering of the people and strengthen social harmony.

The Governor also called for continued prayers for peace and development in Gombe State and Nigeria, stressing that collective efforts are vital to ensuring stability and prosperity. He appreciated religious leaders and citizens for their prayers throughout Ramadan.

"Let us thank Allah for granting us the opportunity to complete Ramadan fasting successfully. The holy month may be over, but its virtues should not be abandoned. I urge all Muslims to uphold these values, as they foster compassion and unity. Both at the individual and government levels, we have a responsibility to support those in need. If we remain committed to these principles, we can help alleviate suffering and promote social welfare," Governor Yahaya stated.

Governor Yahaya also addressed concerns over the increasing activities of Kalare youths, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to tackling the menace. He highlighted the recent donation of 50 operational vehicles to security agencies as part of measures to enhance their capacity in maintaining law and order.
