In the spirit of Ramadan, the Aliko Dangote Foundation (ADF) has launched the distribution of 25,000 bags of 10kg rice to vulnerable citizens across the 20 local government areas of Bauchi State. The initiative aims to provide relief to the less privileged during the sacred seasons of Ramadan and Lent.
Official Flag-Off and Objectives
Speaking at the flag-off ceremony in Bauchi, Alhaji Ahmed Hasheem, the Group General Manager of Dangote Industries Limited, said the food intervention is part of the foundation’s annual humanitarian efforts to support Nigerians facing economic hardship.
“This initiative stems from a deep understanding of the struggles faced by our most vulnerable citizens, especially during Ramadan and Lent. These are periods of reflection and community, but for many, they also bring heightened hardship,” Hasheem stated.
He emphasized that this is the second edition of the palliative program, which was first introduced last year. He noted that in 2023, Dangote Foundation distributed one million bags of rice across Nigeria through various state governments.
“We started this year’s distribution in Kano, and Bauchi is the second state to benefit. Our plan is to extend this gesture to all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory,” Hasheem added.
