Senate Delegation Offers Condolences To Bauchi Over Gumau's Death

A delegation from the 10th Nigerian Senate, led by former Senate President Ahmed Lawan, on Wednesday, extended their condolences to Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed, the people of the state, and the family of the late Senator Lawal Yahaya Gumau.
Gumau, a prominent political figure and advocate for grassroots development, passed away on Friday night at his residence in Abuja after a brief illness.
The delegation also included Senators Abdul Ningi, Kachalla Dahuwa, and Shehu Buba Umar. After visiting the late senator's family, they proceeded to the Government House to condolences Governor Bala Mohammed and people of the state.
Speaking during the visit, Senator Ahmed Lawan described Gumau’s passing as a profound loss to Bauchi State and Nigeria at large.
He recalled the late senator’s contributions to legislative discourse, national development, and grassroots empowerment.
He said late Gumau was known for his unwavering commitment to democracy and development
Lawan commended Gumau’s dedication to democracy and prayed for strength and resilience for his family and the people of Bauchi.
In his response, Governor Bala Mohammed described the late senator Lawal Yahaya Gumau as a dedicated public servant who played a pivotal role in Bauchi’s political and economic development.
He highlighted Gumau’s contributions to legislative processes, his commitment to the welfare of his constituents, and his efforts in championing policies that fostered economic growth and infrastructural advancement.
The governor further emphasised that Gumau was widely recognised for his passionate advocacy for youth and women empowerment, leaving behind a legacy of service, dedication, and integrity.
