SA'ADU ZUNGUR UNIVERSITY HOSTS CAPACITY-BUILDING SEMINAR FOR ACADEMIC STAFF

Sa'adu Zungur University (SAZU) has reaffirmed its commitment to academic excellence by organizing a three-day capacity-building seminar for its academic staff. The initiative, spearheaded by the Directorate of Academic Planning and Quality Assurance, aimed to enhance teaching effectiveness and research skills.

Held at the 500-Seat Lecture Theater on the Gadau main campus, the seminar brought together 75 academic staff from various departments. Key topics covered included effective research grant writing, leveraging digital tools for teaching, reflective practice, and an introduction to Research and Open Science for life sciences.

Dr. Muhammad Mukhtar Aliyu, Director of Academic Planning and Quality Assurance, highlighted the importance of equipping lecturers with up-to-date skills.

"This seminar is designed to help academic staff excel in their roles by providing essential knowledge and tools for effective teaching and research," he stated.

Vice-Chancellor Professor Fatimah Tahir, in her remarks, emphasized the significance of such training programs, particularly for new staff members.

"This seminar serves as an orientation for our new academic staff, ensuring they are well-prepared to contribute effectively to our university's mission," she said. She also commended the Directorate of Academic Planning for its efforts and urged participants to apply what they learned.

As part of its continuous professional development agenda, SAZU has announced plans to hold a similar seminar at its Yuli Campus on February 17, 2025, with another 75 participants, bringing the total number of beneficiaries to 150.

Participants lauded the initiative, expressing appreciation for the university's dedication to their professional growth.

By investing in staff training, SAZU

continues to position itself as a hub of academic excellence, ensuring its lecturers remain equipped with the skills needed to drive quality education and impactful research.
