He commended the state’s commitment to peaceful coexistence and infrastructure development, expressing admiration for its security and cleanliness.
"I took a walk at night to see things for myself across major streets of Gombe metropolis, and what I saw was remarkable. Even in Ogbomosho, we do not have such beautiful streetlights. Gombe is clean, peaceful, and safe," Oba Olaoye said.
Plans for Investment in Gombe
Impressed by the state’s economic potential, the monarch announced his intention to relocate one of his businesses to Gombe.
"We do not work at night in Ogbomosho because of darkness, but with what I have seen here, I am inspired. I am assuring you that I will move one of my companies to Gombe State to contribute to its thriving economy," he declared.
Oba Olaoye also expressed gratitude for the hospitality extended to him by the Gombe State Government, the Emir of Gombe, Dr. Abubakar Shehu Abubakar III, and the Yoruba community in the state.
Governor Yahaya: ‘Inclusivity is Our Strength’
Governor Inuwa Yahaya attributed Gombe’s stability to its culture of inclusivity and social harmony, noting that the state’s diverse population has contributed to its economic growth.
"Our strategic location in the Northeast has attracted people from various backgrounds, and our peaceful coexistence has significantly boosted our economy. The Yoruba community, in particular, has made invaluable contributions to our state’s economic growth," the governor stated.
He also commended Oba Olaoye for defying negative perceptions about the Northeast, emphasizing that his visit would strengthen historical ties between Gombe and Ogbomosho.
Strengthening Historical Ties
Earlier, the Emir of Gombe, Dr. Abubakar Shehu Abubakar III, described the visit as a significant step toward reinforcing the long-standing relationship between the people of Gombe and Ogbomosho. He noted that trade, economic collaboration, and intermarriages have further cemented the bond between the two regions.
"Social relationships flourish when people from different ethnic and religious backgrounds embrace one another as one. The presence of Your Majesty in Gombe today is a testament to our shared history and commitment to unity," the Emir stated.
The visit is expected to boost interregional cooperation and investment, reinforcing Gombe’s reputation as a center of peaceful coexistence and economic opportunity in Nigeria.
