Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, CON, has been recognized with an Award of Excellence by the Gombe Network of Civil Society Organizations (GONET) for his visionary leadership, inclusive governance, and transformative impact on the state’s development.

Speaking at the award ceremony, GONET Chairman, Ibrahim Yusuf, praised the Governor’s administration for prioritizing fairness, equity, and citizen engagement in governance. He highlighted major achievements in infrastructure, healthcare, education, water supply, and human capital development, which have significantly improved the lives of Gombe residents.

"As our Best Performing Governor, you have demonstrated a deep understanding of the people's needs and implemented policies that foster inclusive growth," Yusuf stated. He further emphasized the role of civil society organizations (CSOs) in governance, policy advocacy, and sustainable development.

Representing Governor Inuwa Yahaya, the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Professor Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi, dedicated the award to the people of Gombe, acknowledging their resilience and support. He reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to fulfilling campaign promises through people-centered policies and sustainable economic initiatives.

The event also featured a keynote lecture by Rt. Hon. Abubakar Mohammed Luggerewo, Speaker of the Gombe State House of Assembly, who stressed the importance of collaboration between government and CSOs. He urged state actors to recognize civil society groups as partners in governance and policy-making rather than adversaries.

Additionally, newly elected officials of GONET were sworn in, pledging to strengthen partnerships with stakeholders to advance Gombe’s development agenda.

This recognition underscores Governor Inuwa Yahaya’s inclusive approach to governance, ensuring that all voices—government, civil society, and citizens—contribute to the progress of Gombe State.
