The announcement was made by the Commissioner of Information, Culture, and Ethical Orientation, Hon. Mijinyawa Ardo Tilde, after the 45th executive council meeting.

The Commissioner for Education, Prof. Aishatu Umar Maigari, emphasized that the initiative, which has been in place since 2019, aims to relieve parents of financial burdens and ensure indigent students complete their secondary education. The approved funds will cover WAEC, NABTEB, NBAIS, and special school students, with contributions from both state and local governments. She noted that student performance has improved significantly, with the percentage of those obtaining five credits, including English and Mathematics, rising from 23% before 2019 to around 70% today.

Additionally, the council approved a new sanitation roadmap for schools and healthcare facilities to enhance hygiene and environmental standards. A supervisory committee, chaired by the Commissioner of Environment, Water, and Forest Resources, will oversee compliance.

In another development, the Commissioner for Works, Housing, and Transport, Engr. Usman Maijama Kallamu, announced the approval of N530.8 million for furniture procurement for the newly completed Sharia Court of Appeal complex, enabling its immediate use.

These approvals reflect the state government’s ongoing efforts to improve education, public health, and judicial infrastructure.
