Gombe Hosts 2nd Security Summit, Gov. Inuwa Yahaya Donates 50 Vehicles to Security Agencies
Gombe State has reaffirmed its commitment to security and stability as Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya declared open the 2nd Security Summit at the International Conference Center, Gombe. Themed “Building a Safer and More Secure Gombe State: Addressing Insecurity through Collective Action,” the two-day event brought together key stakeholders to develop strategies for tackling security challenges in the state and the North-East region.
Commitment to Security
Governor Yahaya emphasized that security remains the primary responsibility of any government, noting that while Gombe enjoys relative peace, challenges like farmer-herder clashes, communal conflicts, banditry, and kidnapping still persist. He stressed the need for collaborative efforts among security agencies, traditional rulers, religious leaders, civil society groups, and the private sector to tackle these threats effectively.
A major highlight of the event was the donation of 50 operational vehicles to security agencies, aimed at enhancing their capacity to maintain peace and stability. The Governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to addressing the root causes of insecurity, including youth engagement, drug abuse prevention, and skills development.
Recognizing Federal Support
Governor Yahaya expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu and National Security Adviser Malam Nuhu Ribadu for their roles in improving national security. He acknowledged the ongoing efforts in combating insurgency, banditry, and other crimes in Nigeria.
Expert Insights and Strategies
The summit featured insightful presentations from security experts, including:
- Gen. Abdulrasheed Aliyu (rtd) – The Role of Technology and Intelligence in Combating Security Challenges

Gombe’s Stability Praised
The General Officer Commanding (GOC) 3 Division of the Nigerian Army, Maj. Gen. Folusho Oyinola, commended Gombe’s proactive approach to security, describing it as one of the most peaceful states in Nigeria. He attributed this to deliberate policies and stakeholder engagement in safeguarding lives and property.
Moving Forward
With a focus on sustainable peace and security, Governor Yahaya emphasized that the recommendations from the summit would shape future security policies. The event concluded with the unveiling of the 50 operational vehicles and the symbolic handover of keys to security agencies.
This initiative reinforces Gombe’s position as a model for security management in Nigeria, demonstrating the impact of strategic governance, stakeholder collaboration, and resource allocation in ensuring a safer society.
