Gombe Governor Reaffirms Support for NYSC

By, Abdulwahab Muhammad, Bauchi

Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, CON, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in Gombe State. He made this pledge on Friday while receiving the State Coordinator of the NYSC, Mrs. Chinwe Nnenna Nwaehuku, at the Government House.

During the meeting, Governor Yahaya assured the NYSC Coordinator that his government would continue to enhance the welfare and experience of corps members serving in the state.

Acknowledging the condition of the temporary orientation camp in Amada, he pledged to initiate improvements while awaiting the completion of the permanent site—one of his administration’s priority projects. He expressed optimism that work on the permanent camp would be completed soon, ensuring a better environment for corps members.

“We want to make sure that our corps members are comfortable and supported during their service year,” the Governor stated.

Governor Yahaya also revealed plans for a skill acquisition program in collaboration with the NYSC, aimed at empowering rural women and widows across the state. He emphasized the importance of equipping them with skills that would create better economic opportunities and improve their livelihoods.

In her remarks, Mrs. Nwaehuku thanked the Governor for his continuous support and commitment to the NYSC scheme. She emphasized the need for sustained collaboration between the state government and the NYSC to maximize corps members’ contributions to Gombe’s development.

As a token of appreciation, she presented the Governor with the latest NYSC newsletter and other publications.
