Governor Inuwa Yahaya Congratulates New Gombe NUJ Leadership

Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, CON, has congratulated the newly elected Chairman of the state's chapter of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Farouk Mu'azu Gombe and other Executive Council members on their victory at the just concluded union’s.
The Governor said his government anticipates a stronger relationship with the union and the media practitioners in general, grounded in good ethics, mutual respect, and the overall interest of the state.
He charged the new NUJ leadership to maintain the union’s tradition of excellence, emphasizing the need for continuous professional development and adherence to ethical standards.
"As you embark on this new journey, I urge you to live up to the expectations of your esteemed profession by upholding the highest standards of journalism. Your role in shaping public opinion and holding leaders accountable cannot be overstated. I urge you to also foster unity among members and contribute positively to the broader societal goals of peace and development”, the Governor appealed.
Governor Inuwa Yahaya, who is also the Chairman of the Northern States Governors' Forum, urged the new EXCO leadership to extend hands of fellowship to those who also contested for the positions, emphasizing that the election was a mere friendly competition among brothers and sisters that should come together and work as a united team.
The Governor lauded the journalists for their steadfast commitment to supporting the progress and development of the state, noting the essential role that a vibrant and responsible press plays in democratic process.
He expressed appreciation for the sustained synergy between the NUJ and the Gombe State Government, adding that the union's diligent efforts have been instrumental in fostering transparency, accountability and good governance in the state as being promoted by his administration.
The Governor commended the outgoing leadership for laying a solid foundation for the incoming executives to build upon their successes.
"The media remains a critical pillar in our democracy, and the contributions of NUJ has been invaluable in driving our collective aspirations for a prosperous and peaceful Gombe State”, the Governor said.
Governor Inuwa Yahaya also acknowledged the concerns raised by the NUJ especially regarding the completion of the Gombe State Press Centre, a project that has been a priority for the union, assuring the new leadership of his administration's commitment to addressing these concerns and delivering on promises made to the media community especially as regards this important project.
"We are aware of the importance of a conducive environment for journalists to perform their duties effectively. I want to assure you that we are committed to seeing the press center project through.
